Got a response to my e-mail (that was fast). Unfortunately, the other Michael Horner does not appear to have the happy-go-lucky demeanor and cat-quick wit of your truly:
Thanks for contacting me Michael Horner. I was vaguely aware that there was a porn star with the same name – you can’t not know if you google our name. There are 3 of us just in my city of about 120,000, yet none of us are closely related.
As a philosophy major, let me know what you think of the articles on my website. I trust that as a scholar, you have an open inquiring mind and are not one those philosophy students who only get into the discipline in the hope of bolstering their already predetermined conclusion that there is no God. I don’t mean that to sound accusatory, just my honest hope that you are not one of those, but more like Antony Flew who is committed to going wherever the evidence takes him. I am always open to honest dialogue with other thinking people, Michael. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Michael Horner
What a buzz-kill. This was my response:
Michael -
I certainly do have an open inquiring mind when it comes to most issues, particularly those concerning philosophy and religion. In fact, although I would imagine you and I have some vastly different opinions on the subject, I have always been intrigued by the intersection of philosophy and religion. One of my favorite philosophers (and also the one I struggled to understand the most) is Kierkegaard. I'll take a look at your articles and try to give you a thoughtful response.
By the way, I think we should engage the owners of
mikehorner.com in an ongoing dialog about these matters. My guess is the "porn" perspective would help "flesh out" these issues (pun intended).
By the way, we look a bit alike, as well.
We'll see what happens.
